Holy credit line
So Chase sent me a card offer that looked a lot better than the card I’m using, and I figured I would see just how much credit I could build up. I applied a few days ago, and the card is already here. I still had no idea what the limit was on the card, so I logged into the Chase website-
Ten grand.
I now have $13,000 of total credit available to me, $10K of which has the same interest rate as the loan I got for my motorcycle. From a bank. For half of what I can put on this new card.
All of this would be really exciting if I had $13k of savings built up, but sadly, I do not, which also means I won’t be buying a house anytime soon. I think I will just be putting this card in a safe place to use if catastrophe strikes, and debt is the only option.
Maybe this isn’t unusual. I didn’t get my first credit card until after college, so I don’t know what kinds of limits are generally available to people my age. Anyone else experiencing a huge availability of credit? Home equity doesn’t count; I rent.
i was just about to say, i’ve got like 45 grand in home equity, haha. that shit scares me.
kari and i have 1 cc that has a limit above 10 grand, but usually they are closer to 5 or 6 grand.
Cedric,
Jonathan has like $30,000 of credit card money (balance transfers) in a cd collecting interest. Which really freaks me out. So no…not unusual to have sky high credit limits.
how come you never blog anymore?
Basically, I’m lame. I think. Maybe I’ll write one tonight. Maybe I won’t!
Huh. While I wasn’t looking, one of my cards got bumped up another grand. Plus I got suckered into a Sears card for the initial $15 discount for a grand total of $21,000 of available trouble.
