Looking forward to this

NY Times article on Sin City.

“Filmmaking virtuosity aside,” the reviewer hastened to add, ” ‘Sin City’ is despicable.”

Even the family values people are giving this movie three stars. That has to say something. Also, note that Robert Rodriguez is holding a Handicam and wearing the coolest jacket ever.

Gallery sucks

Sorry, I just trashed my image gallery. I still have all the images, but I got rid of Gallery because I couldn’t get it configured right on my server. First I couldn’t upload any images, then it wouldn’t generate thumbnails, then blah blah blah. So any images linked on this site just disappeared for a while. Sorry, I’ll try to find something else and get it fixed.

Chin Up Chin Up/Appleseed Cast

I was going to leave a comment about Shea’s article, but I realized I had too much to say.

Last night I went to see Chin Up Chin Up and the Appleseed Cast at the M-Shop. The unscheduled first act was apparently a friend of Chin Up Chin Up who lent them his van for the trip from Chicago. Right away, I could tell that he was seriously high/drunk/living in a parallel universe. He was doing the “if you were high this would sound good to you, too” sort of electronic noise, setting up guitar feedback and so forth. A couple of times he actually got a beat going and I kept thinking, “This could almost be good if this guy could only sing.”

Seriously. Way off key.

Then he two-fisted beers for the rest of the otherwise excellent show. I bought a CD from Chin Up Chin Up, but I haven’t had a chance to listen to it, yet. Go see them if you have a chance.

I may reference this post in a future article about bands with only one person in them. Remember, Phil Elvrum has cred. You don’t.

From the sidekick

Can’t think of anything better to do, so I’m going to try writing a blog entry from my Sidekick. You know, that cool mobile communications device that makes me unique and stylish just like Snoop Dogg and Paris Hilton and everybody at work and Keith?

Okay, so everybody has one. It still rocks that I can do this with my phone. Shoutout to Keith.

Oh, yeah. Shea, I’m talking about you in front of you. On my Sidekick. That is advanced blogging.
